Accessibility

Fabrica is a space that welcomes everyone, and accessibility is important to us. When you are on site, our friendly staff are on site to guide you through your visit, don't hesitate to ask them for any extra assistance you might need, no request is too small.

Our exhibitions and events programme are designed with accessibility in mind. Our building is an old historic one which has a mixture of wooden and stone flooring and some slightly uneven floor surface, but it is minimal - most exhibitions and events are ground floor level. Due to our old building, during colder months we suggest bringing an extra layer to attend the exhibition or event. The high ceiling lends to good acoustics in the building as well as good ventilation. We have two entrances to the gallery space, one on Ship Street and the other on Duke Street and two gender neutral toilets for all to use.

Staff are trained with accessibility in mind. Fabrica is designed as a safe space and free from discrimination.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to make the space more accessible for you by contacting us directly. If you require a visit to the gallery outside of exhibition hours, please contact us

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard

Not all disabilities are visible – some are not immediately obvious such as autism, chronic pain, dementia, anxiety, visual or hearing impairment.

Not all people with hidden disabilities require assistance. But if you do, wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard discreetly indicates that you need additional support, help or a little more time.

Our staff are trained to recognise the lanyard, to understand that not all disabilities are visible, and to offer additional support where needed. We can provide you with a lanyard.

Car Parking for Drivers with Disabilities

Fabrica is within 1 minute walk of 2 spaces reserved for orange badge holders. Orange badge holders may also park on double yellow lines immediately outside the entrance. There are also disabled parking spaces on Ship Street, Middle Street and West Street. List of disabled parking access. The Fed runs a hire service for wheelchairs, electric mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs nearby.
