Fabrica is seeking two experienced, confident and highly organised Duty Event Managers to join our freelance events team in central Brighton. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our venue operation, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems and delivering exceptional events and customer experiences.
Based in our beautiful Grade II* listed building in Brighton’s historic Lanes, Fabrica is a contemporary arts space where people can experience culture in unexpected ways. Through exhibitions, events, workshops, performances and community-led activity, we bring people together to explore creativity, learning and wellbeing. Alongside our public programme, we run a busy venue hire business, hosting weddings, private celebrations, corporate events, cultural festivals, talks and screenings throughout the year.
We're looking for people with a customer-focused, people-centred approach who enjoy building relationships, solving problems and helping others, alongside a genuine interest in the arts and charity sector.
As Duty Event Manager, you will oversee the on-shift delivery of a diverse programme of events, from weddings and private celebrations to cinema nights, gigs, art fairs, exhibitions, talks and workshops. Acting as the main point of contact during events, you will manage freelance staff, contractors, bar operations and client relationships, ensuring that events run safely, smoothly and professionally while creating positive experiences for everyone who uses the venue.
This role would suit someone with experience in events, hospitality or venue management who is comfortable leading teams, managing bar operations and responding calmly to unexpected challenges. You'll need excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem solving and a strong understanding of health and safety.
The role is offered on a freelance basis and typically involves between two and four shifts per month, including evenings and weekends. The rate of pay is £16.30 per hour, payable on receipt of an accurate invoice.
If you're excited by the prospect of helping to deliver everything from weddings and celebrations to exhibitions, gigs and cultural events in one of Brighton's most distinctive venues, we'd love to hear from you.
