Part of the Fabric: 30 Years of Fabrica in Brighton

Established by artists in 1996, Fabrica champions ambitious artistic practice. A multi-artform venue we produce and host artist residencies and work‑in‑progress projects, talks, film screenings, short exhibitions, music and sound art, creative workshops, and other cultural gatherings - welcoming people from all walks of life to discover, enjoy and connect with art in all its forms.

Housed in this striking Grade II listed building by architect Thomas Read Kemp, the former Holy Trinity Church was built as a place to bring people together. Fabrica continues this tradition, though what was once pews and pulpit is now an open, flexible venue where ideas can and do take shape.

Beyond our arts programme, we are also lucky to be part of other key moments in people’s lives, working to realise their vision to create.their landmark events such as: wedding receptions, birthday celebrations, private parties, launches and community events.

A Legacy in Making

For three decades we’ve supported artists to make work and share their work practice with audiences by offering opportunities for creative participation, learning and dialogue about art. We work closely with our local communities and with national partners to make our programmes accessible and meaningful, from drawing and sculpture workshops to film evenings and collaborative projects.

Looking Ahead: Sustainability & Future Vision

As custodians of this historic space, we’re committed not just to preserving its heritage, but to a responsible future. Recent sustainability upgrades - including rooftop solar panels, battery storage and an air source heat pump - are helping to reduce our carbon footprint while preserving the character and diversifying the use of this iconic building. Fabrica is also an active partner with The Living Coast UNSECO Biosphere.

30 Years of Making A Difference

In 2026, as we celebrate our 30 year legacy, we invite you to be part of what comes next: join us for events, workshops, screenings and celebrations; share your stories; support our programmes; and help shape Fabrica’s next chapter.
